Qualifications and Experience

Ruth Cattell has been a strong advocate of competitive theatre festivals since attending her first GoDA-adjudicated festival in 2007 as a member of the public. The experience inspired her to become involved with amateur theatre by joining a local theatre company of which she’s still an active member.

Ruth went on to serve on the Worcestershire Theatre Festival committee for 10 years and is currently Chair and Trustee of the National Drama Festivals Association (NDFA).

Widely experienced in acting and directing, Ruth has won multiple awards for both, and performed in and produced a production for the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2018. Recently she worked collaboratively to abridge and co-direct the two-hander ‘Vita and Virginia’ in which she played Virginia Woolf. The production received 5 star reviews and toured the UK in 2024 after a successful Edinburgh run in 2023, endorsed by the Virginia Woolf Society of Great Britain.
